Here's a sad, but true story. I once dated a guy for over a year. I found out he was cheating on me, so to win me back he asked me to marry him and gave me a huge diamond ring. He said it was his mother's and that he gave it to him so he could give it to me. I didn't trust him, so I went into a jewelry store in the mall and asked to have it appraised. The clerk told me the ring was not a diamond, but a cubic zirconia. I was shocked that he would be so classless. Instead of confronting him about it, I went right home and broke up with him. I gave him the ring back with the excuse that it's you, not me. He still calls me to this day asking me if I want the ring back.
