Could You Pass a Love Audition? by The Average Guy
When guys take you out to dinner, we are auditioning you for a future role. Now, that's the good news. We are looking at you to determine whether we could see you in our lives on long term basis.
Let's say we go to dinner on the first date. There are a bunch of minefields out there, but I'm going to tell you how to avoid getting blown up.
1. Be on time. Whether the guy is picking you up or you're meeting him there, be on time. Would you want to wait on a guy for 20 minutes at a restaurant on the first date? Of course not. You also don't want to leave us alone in your family room for 20 minutes while you finish getting dressed. We'll find stuff to do like go through your magazines, pictures, refrigerator so it's best for you to be on time. If you are on time, it says to us that this date was important to you and that nothing was going to get in the way of starting it well.
2. Don't spend time trashing your ex. We don't really want to hear about the other guy on the first and why it didn't work out. If I were to see a woman spending our date discussing her ex, I would assume that she is not quite done with him emotionally. That tells me you're not really available.
3. Treat other people nicely. If you treat waiters, waitresses or other hourly workers poorly, it says something about you. If you need to assert power and dominion over these people, it is another tip off to future bad behavior. Be especially nice to children, because men are also looking to see if the woman they're with could possibly be the mother of their kids.
4. Don't order the most expensive thing on the menu. This is one of the first signs of a gold digger. They treat the first date like we've been going out for 6 months. You know--they take liberties with your money. That's okay in a relationship, but when I'm just laying eyes on you, don't scare me like that. Just order the chicken or fish.
5. Don't drink a lot. We are really thinking about whether our siblings and parents will like you. We don't want to take a lush home to Mom. Don't get tipsy and certainly not drunk around somebody you've just met. It's not attractive and it's not smart. You put yourself at risk to make dumb decisions that you will regret.
